What is Tapping/EFT?
If you’ve ever wished for a simple, gentle way to calm your mind and feel more in control of your emotions, you’re not alone. Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)—often called tapping—is a powerful yet approachable method that blends modern psychology with ancient acupressure to support emotional healing, reduce stress, and create lasting change.
How Does Tapping Work?
Tapping involves gently using your fingertips to tap on specific acupressure points on the body—mostly on the face and upper body—while focusing on a thought, feeling, or memory that’s causing distress. These tapping points correspond to meridian lines used in traditional Chinese medicine, similar to acupuncture (but without the needles!).
The process sends calming signals to the brain, particularly the amygdala, which is responsible for our fight-or-flight response. As a result, many people feel relief from emotional tension, stress, or even physical discomfort—often in just a few minutes.
What Can Tapping Help With?
EFT has been used successfully for a wide range of concerns, including:
Anxiety and overwhelm
Stress and burnout
Emotional triggers and limiting beliefs
Past trauma or grief
Low self-esteem or confidence
Physical symptoms like tension, fatigue, or headaches
And more. It’s also been shown in research to lower cortisol (the stress hormone) and significantly reduce symptoms of anxiety and PTSD.
What Does a Tapping Session Look Like?
In a typical EFT session, you’ll be guided through a series of gentle tapping points—usually on the face, collarbone, and hands—while tuning into the issue you’d like to work on. This could be a specific emotion, memory, belief, or physical sensation.
Your practitioner may invite you to repeat simple phrases aloud, such as “Even though I feel anxious, I accept how I feel,” to help bring awareness to the emotion while activating calming points on the body. This process helps to reduce the intensity of the feeling, allowing it to shift naturally.
Sessions are completely tailored to your needs. You don’t have to relive anything traumatic or share more than you’re comfortable with. It’s a gentle, client-led approach, and many people describe it as deeply calming, even in their first experience. By the end of a session, people often feel lighter, clearer, and more emotionally balanced.
Sessions are held over video call, so you can experience the full benefits of tapping from the comfort and privacy of your own home.
